Because It Makes You Smile

Yesterday I was listening to Heart as I traveled across Ohio, Pennsylvania, and New York on my way to Canada with my mom and my neighbor.  We had just left Cleveland for the sole purpose of going to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.  The Motherland, the Promised Land, Mecca - to me it's all of those things, but that's not what this is about.

As I'm sitting (sprawling is more accurate) in the backseat of my mom's van with my headphones on, blasting Heart's either "Straight On" or"Alone," (I think it was "Alone") I have a huge smile on my face.  My mom looks at me and waves at me to take my headphones off.  She wanted to know why I had such a huge smile on my face.  Was I listening to a story?  No, I said, to her surprise, I'm listening to Heart.  She commented on my smile and I said it's because Heart makes me smile - for a number of reasons (Nancy Wilson being one of the bigger reasons aside from personal associations).

Heart makes me smile.  And I love smiling.  Much like Buddy the Elf, smiling's my favorite.

So do what makes you smile.  Right now, I'm listening to Muse, which also makes me smile.
