A Disappointing Realization

Just when I thought I was making a dent in the number of posts I have left to do, I realized I have not.

I still have 53 to go.  I did my math wrong, which is unusual because I'm good at math.  Or I thought I was

I could say screw it, but no, I don't want to.  I said 365 blog posts between July 24, 2013 and July 24, 2014.  I'm sticking to it.

Well, now I have 52.  That is one less than I had five minutes ago!  Optimism!

And here's my poster again:

My First Solo Show...Ever

In less than two weeks I have my first non-open mic solo performance ever.  At least one that is entirely me.  I used to play at coffee houses at my high school but nothing more.  And those shows were only two or three songs.

This is very exciting and completely new.  I have no idea what I'm in for.  And that might be the best part about it.

If you're gonna be in Maine on the 30th, come on by!

Here's the poster:

The Art of the Poster

May 17, 2013 12:55PM

If I told you how long it took me to make this you’d laugh:

I truly love posters.  There’s something magical about a great poster (note: mine is NOT a great poster).  I’ve been working on my Adobe skills for about six months now.  I still have a million years to go before I am remotely good at making, well, anything in Adobe, but mainly posters.

In today’s do-it-yourself world, the more you know, the better off you are.  My sister is a fantastic designer, and she’ll make me a poster more often than not if I ask her.  She has a lot on her plate these days so I took matters into my own hands.

The learning curve for me is steep, but I’ll get it.  If you have any tips to make Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop easier, please enlighten me!
