A Brief History of My Recorded Works

From 2016 through 2023, my vehicle for my music was my band, Amy Mantis and the Space Between. For our first two years, we were Space Between. Then, when we became a trio, we renamed the band Amy Mantis and the Space Between, as I was the only singer and songwriter.

We recorded and released two albums as Amy Mantis and the Space Between, and I’m beyond proud of them.

The first one, A Place To Land, was written entirely by me. The earliest song (“Call It What You Want”) was penned in the spring of 2012. And the last song written for that album was probably done around the summer of 2018 (either “If I Told You” or “A Process Of Letting Go”). That album was the first time I felt confident enough to put my name out there in earnest.

Our second album, Headspace Exorcism, started with ten songs I wrote. However, when the 2020 pandemic struck, our trio became a duo, and Eric Marshall, my drummer, asked to be more involved with the writing process. I couldn’t have been happier to have him. Eric is a fantastic writer, musician, and human in general. Given that our April 2020 sessions had to be postponed, we spent all spring and summer refining the songs I had written. And it shows. Eric’s craftsmanship and care for language propelled these songs to a new level. Excited by what we now had, we hit the studio with our dear friend Sean McLaughlin at the production helm. Sean, that talented guy, also played bass on every song and mixed them to make them sound epic. (Sean also recorded, mixed, and produced A Place To Land.)

Both albums were mastered by Jeff Lipton and Maria Rice of Peerless Mastering in Newton, MA.
