What I’m Doing Now

Inspired by Derek Sivers

Updated August 16, 2026, from my home in Massachusetts. The days are getting shorter but the air is still warm.

Recovering from a major medical episode

I spent three weeks in the hospital with a rare autoimmune disorder followed by two weeks of inpatient rehab. I wrapped up my outpatient therapy a few weeks ago. I’m getting better every day but have a long, long road ahead.

Everything else is more or less on pause.

Life in small bursts

I can do anything these days, but only in small bursts. I can play guitar at about 80% of my usual capacity for about 30 minutes a pop, but then I need a break. I can go for a swim, but have yet to do more than 600 yards in a session. I can, however, read to my heart’s content. And I have been.

Reading and going to the movies

I restarted and finished Lemony Snicket’s woefully wonderful A Series Of Unfortunate Events. It was a very favorable digest.
